Fletcher Cove Beach Park

Fletcher Park is located at the end of Lomas Santa Fe about two block west of Hwy. 101. It's a fairly quiet, beautiful park with a nice grassy area, several rest rooms, lots of palm trees, a kid's playground, volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball, showers, picnic tables and a mini-amphitheatre. The park overlooks Fletcher Cove and the Pacific Ocean, and there's a paved path that gives you easy access to the beach. Parking (free) can sometimes be a challenge, but you can almost always find a nice spot on the beach. Many events are also held here in the summer months.

Tide Beach Park

This park is located at the north end of Solana Beach and is very secluded because it is hidden by bluffs and usually only accessible by a staircase. Tide Beach Park is a fun place to explore tide pools and offers good surfing because of a large reef called Table Tops. It's also a good place to swim, surf-fish and snorkel. The beach is fairly wide at low tide but almost disappears at high tide. It's a nice sandy cove if you just want to catch rays or read on the beach. Parking is free on the streets and there are seasonal lifeguards. There are no facilities.

Seascape Shores

You'd probably never find this beach access point unless you walk along South Sierra Avenue at a leisurely pace. This beach access spot is about two to three blocks south of Fletcher Cove and gives you a nice private spot on the beach. Parking can be a challenge and there are no facilities, but the sandy, private beach is well worth the effort.

Dog Beach

Dog Beach is on the south end of Solana Beach adjacent to the river mouth. It's possibly the nicest "dog beach" in the entire world. Bring Spot for a run in the surf and some doggie socializing. Note that there are limitation as to when you can bring your pet, especially in the summer.

Belly Up Tavern & Nightclub

The Belly Up Tavern is a live-music and entertainment venue located on South Cedros. There's never a dull moment at the tavern with a nightly selection of top bands and entertainment. The place is casual and fun. Next door is their restaurant, the Wild Note Cafe, so you can grab a bite before going out dancing, drinking and socializing.

Nearby Attractions

While Solana Beach has more than enough to keep you busy year round, there's also plenty to do nearby. Del Mar has Seagrove Park and Powerhouse Park, perfect for picnics, swimming and surfing; Torrey Pines State Park is just 10 minutes south and has a 2,000 acre reserve with hiking and bird watching, and it also has a great beach for surfing and swimming. And, of course, there's the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club which brings 43 days of horse racing and incredibly fun events each summer from late July to early September.

Surfing

Solana Beach attracts lots of surfers -- both beginners and experienced alike. Some access points include Fletcher Cove, Seascape Shores, Tide Beach Park and Dog Beach. Solana Beach is a popular surf spot because it has decent surf -- and there are plenty of places to eat or grab a beverage afterwards.

Golf

Solana Beach has two very nice golf courses: Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, a 18-hole, par 72 Billy Bell-designed championship course; and Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course , an 18-hole, part 56 course.

Train Station

Solana Beach has a train depot station that services Amtrak, the COASTER and The Breeze (bus routes).
